What a copy needs to do

  • Form for contact, summary, experience, education and skills
  • Matching cover letter on a second tab
  • Live preview of both documents
  • 3 templates, including a 2 column layout
  • PDF download of each document
  • No account and no server storage

How to build it yourself

  1. react-pdf renders PDF files from React components in the browser.3
  2. Its Document, Page, View and Text components lay out the resume and the letter.4
  3. react-pdf styles use CSS with Flexbox, which supports 1 and 2 column templates.5
  4. PDFViewer renders a client-side document in an iframe, which serves as the live preview.7
  5. PDFDownloadLink is an anchor tag that generates each PDF and downloads it.8
  6. A Next.js static export renders the builder to static HTML that any web server can host.6

What a copy leaves out

  • The summary generator, resume checker and other AI features
